Behind the GMz Screen (Interlude)

MY STORIES DOMINATE (Interlude)
"The MSD Challenge"

Own and operate a 63-name talent pool from anywhere in wrestling's history. Combine them in ill, creative ways for the duration of 24 full-length PPVs - roughly two years in real time. That's the MSD Challenge and I will be the first to attempt to scale this mammoth creative mountain. I think I may know the secret to a long range booking arc with so many different characters (I'll refrain from releasing that information here, as its still in the testing stage). As publicist for Broken City Championship Wrestling, I am proud to say we are almost half way towards our 24-card quota. More than any other fantasy wrestling promotion in history. And the hits keep on coming:
1) Respect the Shooters & Hookers
2) City of Champions
3) Know the Ledge
4) Behind the Walls
5) Grand Conjunction
6) Aftermath
7) Double Down
8) Deeper than Rap
9) Origin of Violence
10) Marciano Cup (Trustbusters Invitational)
11) Gang Rulz

Goals include tangible draws (you need names to fill seats), intangibles like heart & spirit, a well-rounded roster that can appeal to wrestling fans of every avenue, properly showcasing superstars, building new characters, cohesive, gripping and exciting storylines, action, adventure, drama and above all else - entertainment value. Long range booking is a totally different beast than hotshotting one or two "dream card" productions. This involves time, build-up, intriguing characters, a beginning, middle and end. If you can successfully reach this lofty plateau (24 full-length PPV releases) you can truly tell everybody "My Stories Dominate". Good luck and Godspeed.

BEHIND THE GMz SCREEN (Interlude)

The purging of BCCW continues. I've gone back-and-forth with myself over the issues of cap space and maximum roster slots many times. It seemed I almost didn't want to give back any of my old toys - just make more room and build bigger shelves for the new ones. Not a bad idea, considering when you look back over 2 years (or 24 PPVs) worth of any particular wrestling organization - the upper hemisphere of main eventers remains virtually unchanged. But instead of just saying "F it - have a 100 wrestler league" like I wanted to, I decided on the 63-name capped limit. That's 9 rows of 7 MK's each - more than you'll ever be allotted in any one draft, but still far less than infinity. But as we all know, after a while new blood just forces itself to rise. And that's exactly what is beginning to happen here in BCCW as we reach the roughly half-point mark of the "MSD Challenge". So stay along for the ride as the face of BCCW continues to change in a very public fashion. Can Gold Dust Trio Inc keep it together amidst rumors of business transactions turned sour and growing gambling debts? Can anyone challenge Masahiko Kimura's claim to be the toughest man in the galaxy? How long will the Trustbusters continue to reign as tag team champs with a whole new army of contenders gunning for them? BLK MOBB? Diamond Dynasty? Freebirds? Crooked Cannibal Cartel? What does the future hold? Tune in to the next BCCW show and find out!!!

MSD's ETERNAL WRESTLING TRUTHS #6: Wrestling is a Prison

"Lots of fine people have sat staring at prison walls. Socrates, Joan Of Arc, Gandhi... even Our lord Jesus Christ. He spent the last night of His Life not with holy men but with scum like the kind we got in Oz. One of the last things Jesus did on Earth was to invite a prisoner to join Him in Heaven. Jesus loved that Criminal. I say He loved that criminal as much as He loved anyone. Jesus knew. It takes a lot to love a sinner. But the sinner, he needs it all the more..."
* Augustus Hill (OZ Season 5)

BCCW is retro, BCCW is retribution. You wanna punish a man? Separate him from his family, separate him from himself, cage him up with his own kind. Much like the realm of RAVENLOFT exists in a plane of Deep Ethereal - BCCW too exists in the land of Mists. Is it a prison to some of the most vile human beings in wrestling history? Or a bastion for a true Hero of Light to emerge from the shadows? Though the ultimate goal of the Dark Powers may never be revealed, one thing is certain - the pro wrestling locker room is like that of a prison cell. So called "lifers" traveling the same dead-end path, punishing themselves for their own sins (and the sins of others). Beyond the fad, and the prison culture hustle (where prisons are a booming economical practice in America). In the zoo of madness, where only the strong survive and gangs are necessary safety precautions, steel bars surround us all.

Wrestling is a prison, because to those committed - the life is unescapable. On stage, the masculine aggressiveness required to become Alpha male of the pack (aka World Heavyweight champion) leads itself to shocking and heinous incidents. Violent actions that in any real-world situation would result in a prison sentence. Attempted vehicular homicide (Lawler vs Gilbert / Cena vs JBL / Austin vs Triple HHH to name a few), stabbings (Berzerker vs Undertaker / Cena vs Jesus & Carlito in the club), jumping your opponent in a parking lot, tying his hand to a truck and smashing it with a baseball bat while you record it (4 Horseman vs Dusty Rhodes)... these are all traits and actions of pro wrestling lifers. Fashion, knowledge, affiliation and language traits have all been absorbed into the mainstream from prison life. In some walks of life, much like college or the army, prison is a rite of passage. In the prison that is BCCW, the inmates still struggle for a control that's not strictly theirs. When you constrain such a large number of violent, volatile fighters in a confined environment on a daily, weekly, yearly basis (such as the touring schedule of any major rock-band or pro wrestling production) tension and animosity bubbles and boils. Poised to explode in the flash of a prison yard shanking, or parking lot assault. Wrestling is a prison, and we're all damned to lead this life. For once you're in the system (or wrestling is in your blood), you're in it forever.

The Baddest Man on the Planet

DAN SEVERN versus KEN SHAMROCK

(BCCW Shoot Fight - Live @ "CHANGING of the GUARD"!!!)

The doctor's prognosis has been confirmed - EVAN BOURNE has suffered a broken ankle. The incident occured at "GANG RULZ", when his ankle was tweaked on a hard landing, then shattered with a steel chair and locked in an ankle lock by Ken Shamrock. Post match, his ankle was inserted in a steel chair and smashed for the whole world to see. His recovery could take anywhere from 6 - 12 months. Suffice to say, Evan "Air" Bourne has been grounded in BCCW.

The loss of his prize pupil has only spurred Masahiko Kimura further upon his path. Shooters Club wrestling coach Dan "the Beast" Severn has stepped up to publically vow he will avenge Bourne's injury by challenging Ken Shamrock to finish their duel once and for all! At BCCW's "CHANGING of the GUARD" PPV, Dan Severn versus Ken Shamrock in a BCCW staple match: Shoot fight!!! The history between Dan "the Beast" Severn and Ken Shamrock is a long and turbulent one. It began at UFC 6 on July 14, 1995, in Casper, Wyoming. Ken Shamrock’s win over Dan Severn with a guillotine in 2:15 to become the UFC Superfight champion was the main headliner. That championship was renamed the heavyweight championship in 1997, and is the same championship currently held by Cain Velesquez. Shamrock became the first man in UFC competition to stop Severn’s takedowns, and then when Severn came forward, he left his neck open for the guillotine, the first time that strategy had been used against a high-level wrestler. Ken Shamrock knew the deal - the same move made him tap against Royce Gracie at UFC 1.

DAN SEVERN: Well, put it this way.... I have always been a drug-free athlete. I’ve never needed to stick needles in my behind to get bigger. No. Take a guy like Ken Shamrock… without drugs, he would probably only weigh around 175, 185 pounds. At one point, he was up to 245. A guy like that… I don’t think he even deserved to compete against me in the Superfights. He never won a UFC! The whole organization… I didn’t like it. Most people don’t know this, but the UFC was originally co-owned by the Gracie family. It was intended as a way of promoting Gracie Jiu-jitsu internationally. So they pretty much did whatever they wanted. Ken’s book ["Inside the Lions Den"] wasn’t about Ken. It should have been called the ‘Ken Shamrock vs. Dan Severn book’. Ken talks a lot about beating me. I have 95 or 96 titles, what does he have???

A blood feud unfolds... The feud continued at UFC 9 and culminated in one of the most infamous moments in MMA history - an incident that would come to be called "the Detroit Dance". After defending his UFC title at UFC 8, Shamrock was scheduled to face number one contender and rival Dan Severn at UFC 9 in a rematch of their fight at UFC 6, which Shamrock won by guillotine choke in 2:14. Severn was coming off winning the Ultimate Ultimate 1995 tournament and by all accounts Severn and Shamrock did not like each other. Their rematch at UFC 9 was highly anticipated and was marketed as the "Clash of the Titans 2" and took place in the Cobo Arena in Detroit, Michigan, in Severn's home state.

Shamrock had a lot on the line at UFC 9; Sports Illustrated was there to do a story on him and if he beat Severn again, Shamrock was going to be on the cover of the biggest sports magazine in America, Sports Illustrated. In addition, he would also be featured in a story on the mainstream network CNN sports. Shamrock would be the first mixed martial artist ever to be featured on the cover of a major sports magazine, let alone the biggest one in America. However, despite high expectations, the fight would go down as one of the worst in MMA history for a variety of reasons. UFC owner Bob Meyrowitz, referee John McCarthy and a team of lawyers were in court until 4:30 p.m. on the day of the fight battling with the District Attorney of Michigan, who was trying to prevent the UFC from holding the event in Michigan. An ultimatum was issued: the fight could go on as long as there were no closed fisted strikes to the head and no headbutts. The UFC, desperate to put the show on, agreed to the terms. Fighters were warned hours before the show that they would be arrested if they punched to the head with a closed fist (although many fights that night included closed fisted punches, no fighters were arrested).

When Shamrock learned of the sudden rule change, he made up his mind that he was not going to fight. While training for UFC 9, Shamrock suffered a torn lateral meniscus, a partially torn ACL, a broken nose, and cracked ribs and combined with the rule that he could not punch, he did not think he could win a fight because all of his weapons were taken away from him. Shamrock was also fearful that he would be arrested; the troubled boys from his father's foster home would be watching him and he was afraid of setting a bad example. If Shamrock withdrew, the main event would have been cancelled and the UFC could have suffered substantial monetary damage. After UFC owner Bob Meyrowitz and other UFC officials pleaded with Shamrock to go on with the show, Shamrock, despite the injuries and new rules, reluctantly gave in to the pressure for the sake of the UFC.

In a fight that would be called "The Detroit Dance", both Severn and Shamrock circled each other with little to no contact for almost thirty minutes. "I took the center of the ring understanding that I was going to be fighting for my life and Dan never came at me," Shamrock said. Severn later said that his strategy was to purposely not engage with Shamrock and wait for the fans to boo, hoping that the booing would affect Shamrock psychologically and force him to make a mistake that Severn could capitalize on. Finally, after over 15 minutes of stalling, Severn shot for a takedown, but was unsuccessful and following a brief scramble, Shamrock ended up on top of Severn in full mount. Shamrock held the mount for close to 5 minutes, throwing open fisted palm strikes to Severn's head and an occasional closed fisted punch to the body. Shamrock felt as though he would have damaged Severn badly and perhaps finished him, from this position of full mount if he was allowed to punch Severn in the face with a closed fist. Severn eventually gave his back in an attempt to get out and the risk paid off as he reversed Shamrock into his full guard. Severn landed a headbutt to open a cut above Shamrock's eye and followed with elbow strikes and punches from Shamrock's guard. Shamrock eventually got back to his feet and after 6 more minutes stalling, the fight went to a judges decision. The judges gave a split decision win to Dan Severn, which upset Shamrock because he felt as though Severn had broken the rules by utilizing closed fisted punches to the head and headbutts. Chants of "boring!" and "Let's go Red Wings!" were echoed throughout the arena during the fight. Shamrock later stated that going through with this fight was the biggest regret of his fighting career. This fight would mark the last time Masakatsu Funaki would serve as Ken Shamrock's trainer and cornerman.

KEN SHAMROCK: I mean that's what everybody keeps asking me, 'When are you coming out of retirement?' I'm not retired. If I've ever seen a bully in my life -- and I've seen a lot of bullies and I don't like them -- the Shooters Club is a bully. They push little organizations around, they talk bad about people that don't march in a line that they want them to march in. It's just the way that they treat people man, it's just sad, and the money that they're making is going to them and not the talent. It's the talent that is making them who they are. They're not making it themselves; the talent is. But yet, they seem to think that it's them. Ed "Strangler" Lewis is a gentleman, a stand-up guy. For Masahiko Kimura to say that I broke his pupils ankle -- what coach goes around talking about someone's talent whose made them millions of dollars and say that I snapped them? How immature is that?

DAN SEVERN: The bottom line is what are they going to remember, they are going to remember who won. They did change the rules about the time element. I guarantee if you change the element of time and lets face it, it did have to change for UFC, Mixed Martial Arts and all sorts of things to even continue to exist. The No Holds Barred era is gone. It's just in the archives of history of now. But people I say to underline the fact they try to bury it like it never existed. When by the same token I think BCCW should embrace it saying this is where we began and this where we evolved to, and recognize people from the past like a Masahiko Kimura, Lou Thesz.... these people all did something for this sport and nobody knows who they are. [I was approached by WWE] around 97 if I remember correctly. They approached both both Ken Shamrock and myself at about the same time. Ken went to work with them one year before I did. He put all his eggs into one basket. He worked exclusively for the WWF. I negotiated non exclusivity because I was working for the NWA. Because there was like 35 promoters in the NWA alone that I was working for at different times. On top of working for the WWF. I had a modified contract I did not work the full 187 dates like everybody else did. I basically negotiated sixty dates on an annual basis. Now we're both in BCCW full time, and finally this feud will end. At "CHANGING of the GUARD" I will break Ken Shamrock and force him from BCCW and Gold Dust Trio Inc forever!

The Monstah Squad explodes!!!

Only the Devil knows what fury The Grand of Wizard has unleashed upon wrestling. The demented financial wizard of Gold Dust Trio Inc whose passion and ego drove him to stake a claim in the realm of "hardcore" wrestling. He brought Abdullah the Butcher to BCCW, and when that wasn't enough he called on the most ruthless, mercurial, mercenery-for-hire in wrestling history "King Kong" Bruiser Brody. Now he prepares to pay for his sins with the only kind of currency that matters in pro wrestling prison... blood.

They revealed their alliance at "AFTERMATH", shortly after Bruiser Brody removed another thorn in TGW's side - the "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant ("see "GRAND CONJUNCTION"). Their domination over the Shooters Club at "DOUBLE DOWN" was the culmination of every mad desire The Grand Wizard had orchestrated. The one thing they didn't count on, was the underground Xtreme Icon THE MESSIAH. His hit-n-run ninja assaults upon the Monstah Squad turned TGW's two caged beasts loose (see "DEEPER than WRESTLING" and "ORGIN of VIOLENCE"). Suddenly, like two pitbulls Bruiser Brody and Abdullah the Butcher could not be contained. The final catalyst in the destruction of the Monstah Squad - the fatal spark that set the castle ablaze - was the BCCW arrival of the Celtic Warrior SHEAMUS. His run in at "ORGIN of VIOLENCE" set him on a collision course with the most feared man in pro wrestling history - Bruiser Brody. In what was an epic-level fantasy clash, Sheamus beat "King Kong" Bruiser Brody at "GANG RULZ". Brody snapped and assaulted TGW post match. Little did he know, he has signed his death warrant.

At a recent BCCW promotional stop out of the country, a wild uncontainable brawl broke out in the backstage area between Abdullah the Butcher and Bruiser Brody. The Grand Wizard was said to be in the middle of it all. Some of that action spilled out into the ring, where it was caught on film. Beforewarned, the footage may be frightening to small children...

ABDULLAH the BUTCHER versus "KING KONG" BRUISER BRODY

Bruiser Brody has declared The Grand Wizard his ultimate target, and has vowed to be the downfall of Gold Dust Trio Inc. TGW has in turn taken increased security measures. One thing is certain, there is a major Hype Show planned for the release of "CHANGING of the GUARD" and Bruiser Brody is scheduled to headline. In the grand BCCW tradition of prison tours (see "BEHIND the WALLS") this upcoming hype show is scheduled to occur from a prison in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available!

BREAKING NEWS!

SCANDAL ROCKS BCCW!!!

This just in off the wire -

A federal grand jury has indicted 23 alleged members of Gold Dust Trio Incorporated on federal racketeering charges and charged 11 additional defendants in the same indictment with conspiracy to distribute drugs. A separate indictment charges one of the alleged GDT Inc members and 8 additional defendants with drug conspiracy. The indictments of all 42 defendants were returned under seal on November 14th 2010, and unsealed today, after hundreds of local, state and federal law enforcement officers joined this morning to execute 50 state and federal search warrants and make arrests. Twelve of the defendants already were in custody. This indictment resulted from a joint investigation led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the Brockton Police Department, the Brockton City State's Attorney's Office and the United States Attorney's Office.

"We believe that a series of federal racketeering and conspiracy prosecutions that result in lengthy prison terms for many leaders and key members of dangerous gangs will reduce violent crime," said U.S. Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein. "This case is yet another demonstration of the impact of proactive investigations that combine the resources and intelligence of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The indictment alleges that the Gold Dust Trio Inc gang operates in Massachusetts as an organized criminal enterprise with leaders and followers who commit violent crimes, sell illegal drugs and pay dues to gang leaders in Massachusetts."

The indictment charges that the GDT Inc members conspired to engage in criminal activity, including attempted murders, assaults, robberies and drug trafficking, from at least July 2010 to the present. The indictment alleges that members were required to complete an initiation process that sometimes involved "missions," which refer to violent acts such as robberies, assaults or carjackings. The initiation process also involved being "jumped in" through a beating by other gang members. GDT Inc members were required to commit acts of violence to maintain membership and advance in the gang leadership. The indictment sets out in detail numerous acts allegedly taken by gang members in furtherance of their racketeering scheme. For example, the indictment alleges that GDT Inc members were overheard discussing plans to murder others in retaliation for robbery, for not following the rules of the GDT Inc organization, for failure to pay GDT Inc. dues, or for joining a rival gang.

Cell phone conversations between GDT Inc members in and out of jail were monitored by law enforcement. Gold Dust Trio Inc members allegedly discussed sending money obtained from drug proceeds to incarcerated associates for attorney fees and to purchase minutes for contraband cell phones used by incarcerated GDT Inc associates. Some were allegedly overheard discussing plans to smuggle contraband to inmates in jail. The indictment also alleges that the defendants held numerous conversations in which they discussed distributing cocaine, cocaine base, heroin and marijuana; obtaining guns for use in planned murders and drug distributions; and committing robberies to pay GDT Inc dues.

In other damning news that relates to the marjority governing body of Broken City Championship Wrestling, Joseph "Toots" Mondt is facing indictment for allegedly taking part in illegal sports gambling rings believed to have mafia ties. Combined, the five operations generated $20 million a year. “Illegal sports gambling is a cash cow for organized crime, and this case shines a bright light on the connection between the two,” said Charles Hynes, the Kings County District Attorney, in a statement. Mister Mondt is accused of taking bets through a sports gambling website. He is charged with promoting gambling, criminal usury and extortion, among other things. If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison.

How this will affect future BCCW endeavors is becoming rapidly clear. A NEW pay-per-view event has been added to the line-up! That's right, you read that correctly - BCCW will be releasing a secondary PPV in anticipation of their forthcoming "CHANGING of the GUARD" PPV. In what is being described as a tribute to (or "knock-off of") "Tuesday in Texas", early "In Your House" specials and TNA's weekly PPVs - BCCW has announced a moderately priced hype show to promote the event. The show is entitled "LEGENDS of WRESTLING: DOWN & DIRTY" and is scheduled to occur live from Bayamón, Puerto Rico. "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers is being touted as the headliner, in an announcement that left many people in the know scratching their heads.

Some have said due to their close affiliation with the Gold Dust Trio Inc, Rogers and his ilk have been privvy to many of their internal workings. There are strong rumors that Buddy Rogers himself may have been the whistle-blower or confidential informant who helped roll on GDT Inc. Although these rumors are still unsubstantiated, what is known is that "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers has been promised a #1 contender headliner match. A victory at "L.O.W: Down & Dirty" will earn him a main event title shot at "CHANGING of the GUARD". In what is being billed as a landmark fantasy match-up, "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers will be locking horns with two of his eternal nemesis' in a Triple Threat Match. His opponents are Lou Thesz and Bruno Sammartino! More information about this seminal event is becoming rapidly available, so stay tuned for more!

Legends of Wrestling (Thesz vs Rogers vs Sammartino)

BEHIND the GMz SCREEN (Intro)

The purging of BCCW continues. In keyfabe terms, the exponential growth of BCCW has been so massive so as to attract some of the highest-priced premier talent in the wrestling multiverse. Dark Powers amassing a literal army poised to dominate the fantasy wrestling globe from here on out. Broken City Championship Wrestling is that shit. The newly-christened BCCW World title is a collection of the most prestigious titles recognized in history. Everything from the original WWWF title to the NWA (that's National Wrestling Association) and modern-day WWE championship is represented in its golden form. The absolute pinnacle of this business. Today John Cena holds that belt, but it may not be for long. For with the BCCW World title comes a measure of respect and control. The same type of domination men strive for in all aspects of life. At "CHANGING of the GUARD", this BCCW World title will be on the line - along with governing control of the entire BCCW body. In the wake of this massive scandal that has rocked BCCW and the Gold Dust Trio Inc, Mister Mondt has been forced into a position where he must mortgage his entire livlihood on one last gamble. At "CHANGING of the GUARD", John Cena will be defending his BCCW World championship in a Triple Threat match. Along with victory and the belt, winner of the match will gain majority control of Broken City Championship Wrestling itself. Meaning the literal champion will have the power to shape the leagues destiny or fullfill his own vision. One of the opponents that night will be Toots Mondt, who is taking that one last desperate gamble to overtake the title and fullfill his business obligations. The third man in that Triple Threat championship match will be determed at the "CHANGING of the GUARD" warm-up show. Entitled "LEGENDS of WRESTLING: Down & Dirty", this entire show is based on one match - the 3-way eliminator main event. This one match-up alone combines history, intrigue and backstory with modern-day warfare to produce arguably the single greatest "dream match" in pro wrestling history. "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers versus Lou Thesz versus Bruno Sammartino. Winner becomes the 3rd man in the BCCW championship match at "CHANGING of the GUARD".

The stories between Bruno Sammartino/Buddy Rogers and Lou Thesz/Buddy Rogers have been well documented. These rivalries have continued to burn and sizzle as each man sought to leave his own mark upon BCCW. But what's not too well known, is the beef between Bruno Sammartino and Lou Thesz - two purists from the same school of thought. According to Thesz, talks between he and Sam Muchnick on one side and Vince McMahon Sr. and Toots Mondt on the other concerning the reunification of the WWWF and NWA had begun. The centerpiece of these talks was the ascension of WWWF champ Bruno Sammartino to the NWA throne, a bout that would have drawn big, with every rematch assured of being a sellout as well. But Thesz balked on the issue on money. If he was to drop the title, he wanted to be well paid for it ($125,000) -- in advance. Who could blame him there, considering he was once again dealing with Mondt? He also wanted the title back within a year — another sticking point, but not as bad as the first. It didn’t matter because the deal fell through and Thesz took the blame. Although Thesz didn’t have much respect for Bruno’s skills as a pure wrestler, he did admire him as a performer and greatly admired Bruno’s integrity.

BRUNO SAMMARTINO: Before the book came out, I never had any bad feelings or bad experiences with Lou Thesz. I respected him for what he was to the business. Like anybody else, there were people through the years both pros and cons. There were people who spoke very highly of him and some not so. But that goes for anybody. What bothered me about him and the book, not so much with me because I'm here and I can defend myself, but he spoke of Rocca and Carnera and the Englishman, Bert Assarati, in a very, very negative fashion. I resented it. I lost a lot of respect for the man. I knew Rocca personally. We were tag-team partners in New York and we wrestled each other in New York. With Thesz, that's not what bothered me. Then he said in the book that he made his peace with Rogers so everything was well, whatever that meant. Well, God rest his soul, but let's not compare Buddy Rogers with Rocca or Carnera as far as their reputation in the business. Not too many guys had a worse reputation in the business than Buddy. There's other things. Thesz doesn't get along with Karl Gotch. He didn't get along too great with Danny Hodge. But these guys are all living and well. How come he didn't speak of them what he feels of them? I know there are bad feelings. He speaks of people who are dead, who cannot defend themselves in any way, shape or form. That's what I resent.

LOU THESZ: My quarrel with Rogers dated back to a single incident occurring during my Army days, shortly before I was discharged. I was on a two-week furlough and had lined up some wrestling dates in the St. Louis territory. Rogers, who wasn’t yet wrestling his rough style, was the top attraction in the territory at the time, and we were scheduled to wrestle the main event on my very first night back, in Louisville, Kentucky. Since I didn’t have any transportation, Rogers met me at the train station in St. Louis and I hopped in his car. As we were driving to Louisville, Rogers started talking about what we could expect that night. He was a very hot card, and since I was well-known to fans as a two-time world champion, it looked like a sell-out, a good payoff for both of us. Then he started bitching. ‘The promoter has even brought in Ed Lewis to referee our match,’ he said. “Why do we need that fat old bastard? The money they’re paying him should be going in our pockets." I stared at Rogers for a couple of moments before asking him what he had been doing before he broke into professional wrestling. He said he’d been a cop in New Jersey. ‘Let me tell you something, kid,’ I said. ‘If it wasn’t for Ed Lewis you’d still be walking a beat. None of us would be making any money at this if he hadn’t paved the way. Don’t ever talk that way, in front of me or anyone, about the man whose the foundation of our industry – it’s disrespectful. What’s more, he’s a very dear friend of mine.’

Rogers could see that he’d screwed up, and tried to recover by insisting that he was kidding, but I wasn’t buying it. He’d said enough to make me uneasy about trusting him. So we got to Louisville and I sat down with the promoter. The logical progression, since I was still in the Army, would have been for Rogers to win. He was the big draw, and a win over me would have only made him hotter at the box office. If Rogers hadn’t made those comments about Ed Lewis, I might have gone along with it. I had learned to live with the success Rogers had been give while so many of us worked hard for a sport we loved. But the knowledge of his contempt for Ed and true wrestlers was more than I could tolerate. I wouldn’t let Rogers win, and he certainly couldn’t beat me, so he had no alternative but to go along with whatever I wanted to do. At least that was some satisfaction for me. We ended up wrestling a one-hour draw, and I really turned on the gas, just to punish him. I talked to him in German throughout the match, telling him to hurry up, go faster, setting a pace that had him breathing hard before we were halfway though. He was absolutely drained by the end.

Buddy Rogers and I were to wrestled many more times in the coming years, always as the main-event attraction, and we made an awful lot of money together. One thing fans never saw in any of those matches though, was Buddy Rogers with his hand raised at the end – I never let him win, just on principle. A fan of his put together a Buddy Rogers record book several years ago, and it listed close to 50 Thesz-Rogers matches, every one of them ending in either a draw or a Rogers loss. (What the record book doesn’t reveal is whether the matches were any good, but I can tell you, simply by looking at the results. If the match was a draw, it was almost always a good match; if I was the winner, however, Rogers wouldn’t put any effort into it, cheating the fans of any flair or excitement, and that only served to make me angrier with him than I already was.) In later years I realized that every industry has its equivalent of Buddy Rogers – someone who reaches the top but never understands the objective. Buddy and I finally made peace a few years before his death in 1992, but it’s hard to forget all that happened between us. Life turns on some funny points, and who knows what Rogers’ career would have looked like if he hadn’t made that crack to me about Ed Lewis.

BOBBY "the Brain" HEENAN: Some heels in life are almost so good at what they do, you can't help but admire them. Rogers is truly one of those heels in life who was a backstabber, but he was so good at it and really smooth. I'm not proud of it, but part of me admires what he does. Anyone would, as long as they were not on the receiving end of what Rogers did. He was smart and knew every backstabbing way to get himself over in the ring.

L.O.W: Down & Dirty PPV

1) Hogan and Cena open the show drawing a thunderous ovation. Cena unveils the newly rechristened BCCW World Championship belt and officially announces the stipulations of his title match at "CHANGING of the GUARD" - winner takes the belt and majority control of BCCW. Cena talks a little more trash, freestyling a rhyme about Mister Mondt and his (alleged) mounting gambling debts. Hulk Hogan calls out Triple H and challenges him to a fight at "CHANGING of the GUARD". Hulkamania versus the Cerebral Assassin! Whatchoo gonna do brother, when the Cenation, Hulkamania and the four biggest arms in the world run wild on YOUUUUUU!?!?!?

2) NAOMI NIGHT versus SAMMI LANE (w/ "Adorable" Adrian Adonis)

versus with

This match came about after a major press release touting Naomi Night's signing apparently ruffled the feathers of the "Adorable" one and his personal stylist Sammi Lane. Her challenge to the BCCW newcomer was quickly accepted, and here we are. Good, energetic opener with Adrian Adonis offering just enough sizzle on the outside of the ring to distract from some of the minor shortcomings inside it. Naomi Night earns the victory in her debut after a miscommunication spot between Sammi and Adrian.

Winner: NAOMI NIGHT

But the whole match seemed to just be a set-up for the mammoth ALOISIA the AMAZON to make an appearance!

Accompanied by her manager LIZZY BORDEN, Aloisia the Amazon storms the ring and boots the rotund Adrian Adonis right out of there before coming face-to-chest with the victorious Naomi Night. Naomi tries to show no fear, but the size differential is just too much. One double-fisted choke slam later, and Naomi Night is being rolled out of the ring by referees and EMTs. Aloisia and Lizzy have the mic. Declare their domination over the woman's division and throw more ominous threats towards current WWW champion ALEXXIS NEVEAH. The belt will be Aloisia's at "CHANGING of the GUARD"!!!

3) MISSY's MANOR

Another episode of Missy's Manor, with her main charge Richie Steamboat being the guest of honor (and Yugoslavian maid Aksana providing the comedy relief). So join in on our little interactive game called "Aksana say". Click the following link, and after every pause in Missy Hyatt's promo - randomly click a phrase to hear what nonsensical sentence Aksana says next. Missy Hyatt may stare a little and roll her eyes, while Richie Steamboat just enjoys being the center of attention.

MISSY HYATT: All my memories from BCCW are fond memories. It was the best place I ever worked and since I have a time machine I came back here! If I had only worked for BCCW then I could have gone on and done something different and lived a happy life knowing my dream of becoming a wrestling star came true since we were treated as "talented money making draws" by the company and the fans.

Richie Steamboat promises to show BCCW what real future superstars can accomplish when the best of the best is supporting him. Says Hot Stuff Inc faced alot of red tape just getting into BCCW, but he knows why some people would like to have them blackballed. They're too young, too hot, too fresh. The Young Dragon is on the rise, burning up the competition!

MISSY HYATT: When I got the call from MSD I had to beg to get out of the bogus contract I had signed. Even when he knew GDT was in financial trouble he still made a stink and tried to take my name and cause problems for me. I believe it was because I was a female with a brain and wasn't afraid of him and that made him mad. I was prepared for him though, with his violations of the bogus contract. I was ready to fight, his lawyer was stunned too. I also would not buy any of the Amway he was making the wrestlers buy.

Hot Stuff Inc will be at "CHANGING of the GUARD", and they promise to make a statement that will resonate in BCCW and fantasy wrestling forever. Behold and bear witness to the Rise of the Young Dragon!

AKSANA: USA! USA! USA!

4) RYAN DANGERFIELD versus TRENT ACID versus THUMBTACK JACK

versus versus

Solid ring-work by all three guys, showcasing some of the most underrated talent on the indy level. Although they may be small-to-average size, they give it their all. Ryan "White Flash" Dangerfield wins the match after a Van Damninator to Thumbtack Jack has the madman from Germany eating a steel chair embedded with dozens of razor blades (the sick highlight of the match after TJ had procured it from under the ring earlier), and then hitting a "Blinding Lights" suplex on Trent Acid. Dangerfield unveils his devastating new finisher to great success.

Winner: RYAN DANGERFIELD

But the young Aussie has little time to celebrate, as The Berzerker rampages his way to ringside and starts throwing bodies! Led by The Grand Wizard, the Berzerker tosses security left and right, hits Trent Acid with a big boot that sends him spiraling out of the ring, and slashes Thumbtack Jack's arm with his sword (leaving a huge, messy, bloody gash). TGW and the Berzerker take the ring. TGW has the mic - runs down former associate Bruiser Brody. Says they won't let Brody on the island, calls him a coward, all kinds of stuff... and finally Bruiser Brody makes his dramatic run-in through the crowd. The ovation he draws at first sighting is enough to make the building shake.

5) BRUISER BRODY versus THE BERZERKER (w/ The Grand Wizard)

versus

Short, stiff and absolutely brutal. Bruiser Brody kills the imposter Berzerker, rubbing a "HUSS! HUSS!" right in his bearded face. Brody earns the victory with a flying knee drop that splatters the blood on Berzerker's face all over the mat. Brody tries to go after TGW but walls of BCCW security separate the two men. TGW drags a disoriented, dazed and very badly beaten Berzerker back to the locker room while Bruiser Brody storms around stomping his feet like a madman. Crowd driven into a frenzy by the ferocious display.

Winner: BRUISER BRODY

6) ALEXXIS NEVEAH versus MARYSE
(WWW Championship match)

versus

In an over-the-top, priceless & wasteful entrance reminiscent of any Housewives, Hills or Jersey Shore episode, MARYSE enters with her diamond tiara and is escorted by her Dynasty cohorts DOLPH ZIGGLER and the Million $$$ champion WADE BARRETT. Alexxis' entrance is far less glamorous, but gets a much bigger pop from the audience. Match is very good, with Alexxis playing the role of plucky underdog babyface to perfection. She schools Maryse in every aspect of the game, until interference from Dolph or Wade turns the tide. Match ends, when Maryse calls for a reluctant Dolph Ziggler to cream Alexxis from behind with the Million $$$ title (the belt Wade had dropped earlier in another skirmish). Ziggler completely whiffs on Alexxis and winds up clobbering Wade with his own belt, in a classic example of the heels getting their comeuppance. Maryse is then humiliated when Alexxis pins her after a flying bulldog before smashing her priceless diamond tiara and stripping her down to her bra and thong. Alexxis retains, while Dolph & Wade argue furiously amongst themselves (not even Heenan can come them down) and Maryse slinks shamefully backstage.

Winner (and still World Woman's Wrestling champion): ALEXXIS NEVEAH

7) CODY RHODES versus MIL MASCARAS
versus

In the semi-main event, Mil Mascaras beat Cody Rhodes via pinfall with a top rope flying body press. These two have been feuding ever since Cody Rhodes announced his signing with Gold Dust Trio Incorporated. The feud raged at "GANG RULZ" when Cody Rhodes was one of the sole survivors of his team, overcoming Mil Mascaras amongst others. Tonight, the arrogance of Cody Rhodes was on full display as he lost precious time after a successful "Beautiful Disaster" strike floored Mascaras by attempting to strip the proud Mexican of his mask instead of going for the pinfall. That one mistake may have been what allowed Mascaras to regain his composure, make the dramatic comeback, and score the victorious pinfall.

Winner: MIL MASCARAS

8) "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS versus BRUNO SAMMARTINO versus LOU THESZ

versus versus

An absolute pro-wrestling dream match, regardless of your year, era, generation or fan knowledge. The entrances for each of these three men alone is worth the price of admission. Absolute clinic, as these three timeless superstars put on a match for the ages. All kinds of spots, too numerous to mention. Internet wankers, smarks and casual fans all the same are left awed by this 5-star classic. In the end, a lowblow from Rogers to Thesz leaves Lou an invalid, allowing the Nature Boy to reverse a Sammartino over-the-shoulder backbreaker into a backslide for the pin!!! Buddy Rogers does it! Rogers and Heenan celebrate in the ring, as Jack Swagger helps his dejected tag team partner backstage and Bruno just looks on in absolute shock. Buddy Rogers will be the 3rd man in the "CHANGING of the GUARD" main event! Will the Diamond Dynasty finally rule it all??? Tune in to "CHANGING of the GUARD" to find out! Coming up soon!

Winner: "NATURE BOY" BUDDY ROGERS
